"Good" & "Bad" Quality Remy Hair

Many people think all Remy hair is the same, however, there are different types of Remy hair which affect the overall quality of the hair extensions. Remy hair can be broken down into three distinct characteristics: single drawn or double drawn, origin of the hair and hair quality.

The quality of the Remy hair is divided into 3 categories: Quality A, B and C. Quality A Remy hair is the most expensive type of weft made up of Indian Remy hair. This type of hair extension is unidirectional and characterized by double-drawn hair, where the whole weave is made up of hairs of the same length. Quality B hair is made of special double drawn remy hair and is unidirectional. The length of the hairs may vary by up to 1-2 inches. The final grade of hair is Quality C, which has cuticles intact and unidirectional. The entire weave contains hairs of different lengths.

The difference between single drawn hair and double drawn hair is that single drawn hair is made up of hairs all of different lengths just as it would grow naturally on the head, while double drawn hair is sorted so that all the hairs in the weft are left within one or two inches in length from one another. Double drawn hair is the most expensive grade of hair because of the care that is required to sort the hair so meticulously to make it look very natural.

The origin from which the hair comes from greatly affects the quality and texture of the hair. Indian Remy hair is the highest grade of human hair because it has a natural texture and color which can be easily matched with people from all around the world of different ethnic backgrounds. Brazilian and European hair is commonly used because it feels softer. Asian hair is a popular choice because it is usually less expensive, but is not usually as thick as hair that comes from other ethnic backgrounds.

The CALIHAIR™ Deluxe Signature Series is made from some of the world's finest Indian Remy hair, which is why our hair gives off a beautiful natural glow.

Other brands
Remy Hair
Uses the best hair with cuticles intact and facing the same direction.
Non-Remy hair
Roots and tips of the hairs are all mixed up in non-remy hair because they are collected from
many donors. After several washings, the silicone coating on Non-remy hair usually washes off
and you will be left with raw over-processed hair that will begin to feel dry, brittle and
unmanageable.
OR... Synthetic hair
Sythetic hair is made of a wide array of different synthetic fibers. Synthetic hair does not last
long because it gets quickly damaged by the sun. Synthetic hair will never look as natural as
human hair, as it is stiff and not bouncy at all.
Double Drawn Hair
The finest quality hair with the same wave length in each piece. The hairs are arranged with
equal lengths.
Single Drawn Hair
Hair taken directly from the scalp by shaving the head. Care is taken to remove the very short
hair, with the longer hair sorted in different hair lengths, giving a ponytail-like appearance.
Quality A
An expensive type of weft hair made up of Indian Remy hair. This type of hair is unidirectional
and characterized by double drawn hair, where the whole weave is made up of hairs of the
same length.
Quality B
Made up of special double drawn Remy hair, and is unidirectional. The length of hairs may vary
by up to 1-2 inches.
Quality C
The cuticles are intact and are unidirectional. The entire weave contains hairs of different
lengths.
Indian hair
Indian hair is both thin and strong. The hair is put through an osmosis process where the color
pigment is removed. Then, over a period of several weeks, the color pigment is saturated back
into the hair cuticles with the desired color.
Other Ethnicities
Hair extensions coming from other ethnicities are sometimes more economical, but do not usually
have the same texture or thickness in comparison to Indian, Brazilian or European hair.
